Gonna cut to the chase–we’re not feeling particularly useful these days. What can we as theatre artists do as citizens for our country in this highly divisive, hate-filled, and violent moment in time? And not simply produce another play. What if we developed an approach for individuals across the country to make and exchange plays? As if strangers sent postcards to strangers. What if a group of artists attempted to figure out how to better position theatre (really and truly) as a bridge from where the U.S. was from, to where the U.S. is from now, to where we might become from one day? Could theatremaking + internet lead to new, deeper, more personal understanding of ourselves and each other? Where all of us are from?
This is what FROM: A You-Us History Project project is about. Stay tuned.
